🍂 Grønt Marked: Copenhagen’s Farmers’ Market in Autumn
There is something rather special about a farmers’ market in autumn. The colours change, seasonal produce fills the stalls, and there is a lovely feeling of slowing down and enjoying where our food comes from.
That is what we love about Grønt Marked Copenhagen. This non-profit farmers’ market brings together small-scale farmers and food producers from Denmark and Skåne, Sweden, creating a direct connection between producers and the people who eat their food.
When Grandma Sita visited Grønt Marked in autumn, she wandered from stall to stall, chatted with producers and discovered seasonal ingredients that soon had her thinking about what to cook. For Grandma Sita, a farmers’ market is never just about shopping. It is about people, seasons, stories and inspiration.
🍁 Grandma Sita’s Autumn Visit to Grønt Marked
Grandma Sita arrived without much of a shopping list — which is exactly how she likes to visit a farmers’ market. She took her time, looked around the stalls and let the season guide her.
She loved chatting with the producers, asking questions and discovering ingredients she might not have thought about buying.
And, of course, her thoughts soon turned to the kitchen. Because that is the magic of a good farmers’ market: you don’t just come home with ingredients, you come home with ideas. That little bit of inspiration stayed with Grandma Sita long after her autumn visit to Grønt Marked. 👵🥕🍎

🧺 What is Grønt Marked?
Grønt Marked is a non-profit farmers’ market supporting small-scale farmers and food producers from Denmark and Skåne, Sweden. Its focus is simple: local, seasonal and sustainable food, sold directly by the people who grow and make it. And that is part of the charm. You can meet the producers, ask questions and discover where your food comes from. 👩🌾
🌱 Local, Seasonal & Sustainable
Grønt Marked follows the rhythm of the seasons, so what you find at the market changes throughout the year. The idea is simple: enjoy local food when it is at its best and support the people who produce it. From summer berries to autumn apples and root vegetables, every season brings something different. 🍂

🍂 Harvest Festival: celebrating the season
If you are visiting Copenhagen in autumn, keep an eye out for Grønt Marked’s Harvest Festival. Started in 2022, it celebrates the harvest and brings together local producers, food, music, workshops and the wider community. It sounds like the perfect way to welcome autumn — with good food, good people and a little celebration. 🍎🎶🍂

🤓 Did you know? Grønt Marked is part of a global farmers’ market movement
Grønt Marked started in 2019 with a simple idea: bring Copenhagen closer to the farmers and producers behind its food. Since then, the market has grown across the city, supported by a wonderful community of volunteers — more than 100 people have helped along the way, many of them internationals living in Copenhagen. Today, Grønt Marked is also part of the World Farmers Markets Coalition, connecting farmers’ market organisations around the world and sharing ideas for stronger local food systems.
🌱 See you at the market!
For Grandma Sita, Grønt Marked is a lovely reminder that food is about more than what ends up on our plate. It is about people, seasons and the stories behind our food. So next time you are in Copenhagen, bring your reusable bag, leave some room for a surprise and see what the season has waiting for you. 👵💚
